France 2011 / 2012 Undergraduate Scholarship in Arts and History, Paris

The Kenza Foundation is supporting every year the studies abroad of two students in Arts and History of Art from prestigious universities in Paris. Scholarship for each student is up to €10,000 for the academic year 2011/2012.

WHO MAY APPLY
In order to be eligible, you have to meet the following criteria:

  • You are a less than 28-year old citizen or a legal permanent resident or nationals of France as of 1st January 2011
  • You are studying in 2010-2011 mainly in one of the four following institutions: Ecole du Louvre, University Paris IV, Paris III and Paris I Sorbonne (History of Art), Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts de Paris
  • You are an undergraduate or graduate students enrolling for the first-time outside France for full-time graduate or undergraduate studies. PhD students, post-doctorate students and more generally students who receive a stipend from their university to study, are off-limits;

SELECTION CRITERIA

Criteria are the following:

  • Your ambition and objectives;
  • Excellence of your education results;
  • Your financial status.

There is no restriction regarding the country or the university applied for by the student, though the quality of the studies considered, whether teaching is in a language other than French and students’ ambition will be appreciated by the jury to assess the excellence of the application.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS
The process is organized in parallel with the application process of the universities you are applying for, with scholarships being awarded subject to final acceptance by one of your top two choices. A comprehensive application form in French has to be carefully filled in including in particular detailed bio, references to work produced, recommendation letters from professors or other professionals, copies of diplomas and family tax returns. If you are invited to the second round of the process, you will then have an interview with the jury, composed notably of members of the foundation’s board and external personalities. Deadline for submission of the scholarship application for the year 2011-2012 is 15 December 2010. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Master Degree Scholarship in Desalination Technology, Jeddah, King Abdulaziz University [Saudi Arabia]

The Center of Excellence in Desalination Technology at King Abdulaziz University (KAU), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is offering a Master degree scholarship in Desalination Technology for outstanding college graduates from South East Asia countries.

Applicant should hold a Bachelor Degree ( B. SC.) in Mechanical or chemical Engineering from an accredited university with an outstanding GPA (4.5/5 or 3.5/4 or higher). A TOEFL grade of 500 or higher is strongly required. Research Experience is preferred and is considered a plus.

Accepted students are supported through the Graduate Assistantship Program. The program provides awarded students with the following:

1. Tuition waiver.
2. A monthly stipend of 2000 Saudi Riyals (US$ 533)
3. University student Housing.

Scholarship awarded students will be required to actively participate in Desalination research activities and other related duties as assigned by the center. Continued support for graduate students depends on their ability to maintain exceptional graduate academic standards and perform a high level of Desalination Technology research activities.

Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Freie Universität Berlin [Germany]

Graduate School of North American Studies invites applications for 10 Doctoral Grants
The Graduate School of the John F. Kennedy-Institute for North American Studies invites applications for the academic year 2011/2012. Six academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences collaborate in offering a structured curriculum. The doctoral program is interdisciplinary in its approach and focuses on those social transformations impacting the United States and Canada at the beginning of the 21st century. Areas of emphasis include domestic and foreign policy, economic development, ethnic identity and relations, as well as recent transformations in media, art, literature, culture, and religion. The language of instruction is English.

Applicants interested in pursuing a doctorate with an emphasis in North American Studies must have a completed degree (M.A. or the equivalent) with above average marks in one of the following disciplines: American Cultural Studies, American Literature, History, Political Science, Sociology and Economics. Grants are awarded for a maximum of three years. Continued funding past the first year is based upon a positive annual evaluation of progress.

Scholarships amount to ca. 1.500 € per month.

It is also possible to apply for admission to the program independently from applying for a stipend. Guest students are welcome to stay for a period of up to one year. Guest students must be self-supporting.

All application materials (completed application form, statement of purpose of 3 pages, outline of dissertation project of 8-10 pages, curriculum vitae, two recent letters of reference, copies of earned degrees, proof of language skills, and a writing sample) must be received by January 31, 2011 at the following address:
