Postdoctoral in Carbon Electrochemistry, Columbia University, USA

The Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to research Carbon Electrochemistry. The position will report to the Director for Sustainable Energy at the Earth Institute at Columbia University. This postdoctoral position is available immediately to work on high temperature electrochemical energy conversion technologies involving solid ceramic electrolytes. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering or a related field and expertise in: assembling and running high-temperature test stands, electrochemical analytical measurements including impedance spectroscopy, electrode/electrolyte materials synthesis and fabrication of cell structures to optimize electro catalytic properties. Work will entail leading experimental studies with high-temperature electrochemical systems such as electrolyzers, fuel cells, and gas separation membranes, including system integration and anal

Erasmus Mundus Master Scholarship in Geospatial Technologies, Europe

The International Masters Program (Master of Science, M.Sc.) in Geospatial Technologies is a cooperation of * University of Münster (WWU ), Institute for Geoinformatics (ifgi ), * Universitat Jaume I (UJI ), Castellón, Dept. Information Systems (Lenguajes y Sistemas Informaticos) , Spain, and, * Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL ), Instituto Superior de Estatística e Gestão de Informação (ISEGI ), Lisboa, Portugal. The three-semester Masters program will enrol up to 32 students per year. Students will attend the first semester in Lisbon or Castellón, the second semester in Münster. The third semester (Master thesis) can be performed at each of the three partner universities. * The first semester offers different learning paths, addressing the previous know-how and requirements of the students. The courses at UJI focus on the provision of know-how in informatics, new media, and GI basics. UNL provides modules in mathematics, data modelling, and GI basics. * The second

PhD Position from Medical Theoretical Center in Dresden, TU Dresden, Germany

PhD position and Research Assistant in the Mammalian Meiosis Group as of 1 January 2008 One PhD position and a stipend for one Research Assistant are available in the Medical Theoretical Center in Dresden in the fields of “Pluripotency and Germ Stem Cells” and “Meiotic chromosome behaviour in mammals” Both the PhD and the full time Research Assistant position are available from the 1st of January 2008 in the laboratory of Dr. Attila Tóth. Applications are currently accepted and positions will be filled as soon as suitable candidates are found. Successful candidates will participate in one of two projects: One project aims to develop strategies for in vitro generation of pluripotent stem cells from testis derived germ stem cells. The work will include: a genetic screen to identify and characterize factors that can induce pluripotency in germ stem cells, cell culture experiments, bioinformatics, mouse genetics and biochemistry. The other project focuses on the genetic and biochemical ana

Postdoctoral Position in Biochemistry at ETH Zurich, Switzerland

Post-doctoral positions are available from January 1st 2008 (or upon agreement) in our laboratory at the Institute of Biochemistry, ETH in Zurich. We are looking for highly motivated scientists with a strong background in cellular and molecular biology. We offer a friendly, enthusiastic and interactive environment. Our staff is international and the working language is English. Our group is interested in the functional characterization of Telomeric Repeat containing RNA (TERRA), a recently discovered component of mammalian telomeres (for more information please visit: http://www.bc.biol.ethz.ch/box_feeder/people/groups/azzalin/ ). Possible research topics include TERRA regulation during cancer development or cellular senescence and the discovery and characterization of novel TERRA regulators. We will exploit combinations of genetic, cell biological and biochemical approaches available in mammalian cell cultures. Applications including CV and names of two referees can be sent (if possib
