Prince of Wales Innovation Scholarships (POWIS) 2009 [UK]

20 PhD Scholarships – £20,000 annual stipend The University of Wales is inviting expressions of interest from outstanding graduates for its first cohort of Prince of Wales Innovation Scholarships (POWIS). POWIS is a new £11 million initiative that is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund provided through the Welsh Assembly Government. In 2009, POWIS will fund a minimum of 20 scholarships to undertake PhD research on a full-time basis over a three year period. The successful candidates will undertake research projects developed by high growth, innovative companies in Wales and supervised by academics from partner universities. This is therefore an opportunity for students with an excellent academic background to gain experience of developing R&D within high growth technology-based firms, whilst improving their entrepreneurship and innovation skills. Call for Applications for the 2010 Faculty for the Future Fellowships Candidates have from October 5th to November 30th 2009 to apply for the Schlumberger Foundation 2010 Faculty for the Future fellowships. Faculty for the Future fellowships are awarded to women from developing and emerging economies who are preparing for PhD or postdoctoral study in the physical sciences, engineering and related disciplines* to pursue advanced graduate study at top universities in their disciplines abroad. Launched by the Schlumberger Foundation in 2004, Faculty for the Future has grown to become a community of 110 women from 35 countries.
