Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's institutions. Eligibility Candidates who are seeking admission as new full time PhD students in the following eight institutions, irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience and ethnic background, should be eligible to apply.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) invites expressions of interest from graduates with evidence of academic excellence, research ability, and good communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities for full-time PhD study within a newly launched Fellowship scheme. The scheme aims to recruit outstanding graduates, irrespective of country of origin and ethnic background, to Hong Kong, and will provide a 3-year tuition scholarship, a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately US$2,600) and Conference and Research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately US$1,300) per year for awardees for a maximum period of three years.

Rhodes Scholarship, Oxford University, 2010 [Hong Kong]

A Rhodes Scholarship is tenable for full time study at the University of Oxford. After election to a Scholarship, a successful candidate has still to be found a place in the relevant department or faculty of the University as well as a place in an Oxford College. Admission to the University is not guaranteed and the award of a Scholarship is not confirmed by the Rhodes Trustees until a Scholarelect has been accepted by the University and a College for admission. Election to the Scholarship is normally for two years but the Scholarship may be held for one year only, depending upon the degree programme pursued by the Scholar. The Trustees impose no requirement that a Scholar should study in Oxford for more than one year. A Scholarship may be renewed, at the complete discretion of the Trustees, for a third and final year for those who were initially admitted to Oxford to pursue a doctoral degree. Founded in 1963, The Chinese University of Hong Kong offers around 50 undergraduate programmes with majority of them taught in English. We have been ranked 38 in the world’s top university 2007 by Times Higher Education Supplement.
