PhD Studentships in BioMEMS / NEMS, Nanobiotechnology, University of Michigan [USA]

Positions for both doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows are available at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI). Our group’s interests lie at the nexus of micro/nanoengineering, biophysics, biology, and biotechnology, and we are focusing on developing integrated systems for high throughput quantitative micro/nanoscale analysis of molecular and cellular functions. We seek graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from a wide array of backgrounds (micro/nanoengineering, applied physics, biophysics, and cell and molecular biology) with demonstrated ingenuity, productivity, and ability to work in a diverse, high energy environment. We welcome inquiries about these openings, which should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and any published paper or manuscript in preparation (preferred electronic format: pdf). Applications for doctoral students will be preferred for those with master degrees and proven publication records. Please

PhD Scholarships in Indonesian Economics, The Australian National University

The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) is offering two, three-year PhD scholarships to conduct doctoral research on the Indonesian economy. Scholarships are to the value of $25,000 per annum for up to three years. Successful applicants are required to participate in the activities of the Indonesia Project, which is administered by the Arndt-Corden Division of Economics at the ANU. Prospective PhD scholars from a well-established PhD program in Economics at any Australian university, who can demonstrate a strong commitment to work on Southeast Asian economies, are invited to apply for the PhD Scholarships. Successful applicants will be subject to the normal requirements for completion of a PhD program at the host university. Additional funding will be provided to undertake up to three months of fieldwork in Indonesia for the purpose of collecting data and other information for research. Applicants should send a letter of application, proof of acceptance into a Ph

Graduate Fellowships and Postdoctoral Positions in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology [Singapore]

Graduate Fellowships and Postdoctoral Positions in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Singapore Dr. Qihua Xiong won 2nd batch Singapore National Research Foundation Research Fellowship (NRF-RF) and recently joined Nanyang Technological University as a Nanyang Assistant Professor. With a strong support from both NRF and NTU, Dr. Xiong is expecting to establish a vibrant group dedicated into the research in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Dr. Xiong finished his B.Sc. degree in Physics at Wuhan University in 1997. After obtained his M.Sc. degree in physics from Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2000, he went to United States of America to pursue his Ph.D. research. In 2006, he received his Ph.D. degree in materials science at The Pennsylvania State University under the supervision of Professor Peter Eklund. His Ph.D. research covers from fundamental physical properties especially phonon properties of semiconductor nanowires, to nanomechanical proper

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships 2010 in Robotics

16 Erasmus-Mundus Studentships Computer Vision and Robotics Applications are currently being considered for 16 fully funded scholarships (fees and stipend for 8 EU and 8 non-EU students) on the prestigious 2-year Erasmus-Mundus European Masters programme on Computer Vision and Robotics (VIBOT) between Heriot Watt University (UK), the Universite de Bourgogne (France) and the Universitat de Girona (Spain). VIBOT is one of the European Union`s flagship Erasmus-Mundus courses. The key aim of VIBOT is to produce the next generation of leading engineering researchers to solve important future challenges in a broad range of engineering applications. Starting from a comprehensive coverage of the prerequisites in the field of digital imagery and basic image processing, the students will cover at specialized level all subjects of artificial vision applied to robotics, medical imagery and 3D vision. This Masters programme will provide an unrivalled knowledge in computer vision and robotics app

PhD Studentships in Media Studies, University of Sunderland [UK]

POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS IN MEDIA AND CULTURAL STUDIES Building on our recent success in RAE 2008 (65% World Leading/Internationally Excellent research), the Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies invites applications for five fully-funded PhD research studentships. Applicants should be suitably qualified and motivated to undertake a full-time programme of research leading to a PhD. Although we welcome applications from across the field of media and cultural studies, we would be particularly interested in research projects that fall within one of the Centre’s general research themes: Histories and Theories Texts, Performances and Identities Technologies and Spaces of Communication Further details of staff research interests are available at: http://centres.sunderland.ac.uk/crmcs/ The studentships will include the payment of all tuition fees and carry an annual bursary for a maximum of three years. Students will be provided with a programme of research training
