Switzerland: PhD Fellowships in Theoretical Particle Physics, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL)
The group of Riccardo Rattazzi and the future group of Claudio Scrucca at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne invite applications for several Ph.D. fellowships in the area of theoretical particle physics. These fellowships are jointly sponsored by EPFL and by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The preferred starting date is fall 2007 and the duration is 4 years.
The candidates should have obtained a Master in Physics by the starting date. Preference will be given to candidates with a solid basis in theoretical physics. Research areas include field and string theory, high energy phenomenology, physics beyond the standard model, supersymmetry, supergravity, and cosmological aspects of particle physics. All the groups working in particle physics at EPFL have strong ties with nearby CERN. Applications should contain a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae including a list of all the exams with marks, a recommendation letter, and a copy of the Master thesis (if already completed). They should be sent by electronic mail to the following two addresses: riccardo.rattazzi@epfl.ch /claudio.scrucca@cern.ch The application should preferably be completed by June 30, 2007.
