The Center for Africana Studies and the Center for Educational Resources of the Johns Hopkins Universitys Sheridan Libraries seek a Post Doctoral Fellow to be project manager for a 3-year initiative to uncover hidden collections in historical archives of Baltimore, MD.
The position requires an individual with subject-related training to oversee student archival teams who will collaborate with curators, faculty, and technology specialists to inventory and process letters, photographs, and other primary resources; create descriptions of archival content; and post those descriptions to a web-accessible, searchable database. The project manager will develop a strategy for evaluating the project at various stages, participate in outreach activities, and manage the reporting process during the course of the project. The project manager will also teach one survey course in 20th century African American History and Culture each year.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a humanities discipline with an African American concentration, archival processing experience, teaching experience, and project management organizational skills.
