Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Indonesian/Malaysian Studies
The Faculty of Asian Studies seeks to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the field of Indonesian and/or Malaysian studies.

Fixed Term 3 years
Conversion to a continuing (permanent) appointment may be available upon application, after 12 months

Salary Package: $AUD66,764 - $AUD93,181 pa plus 17% super
2% Salary Increase 15 November 2007

Applicants will possess a PhD relevant to our teaching and research missions. The successful applicant will be able to design and teach innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Indonesian and/or Malaysian history and society and on the place of these two countries in regional security. He/she will have a solid publications record in Indonesian/Malaysian studies and a proven record of success in competitive research grants. He/she will be able to assist in the promotion of the field at the University and beyond.

The successful applicant will have a very good command of Bahasa Indonesia or Bahasa Malaysia and a fluent, correct command of English. He or she may be called on to contribute to the Facultys Indonesian or Malay language tuition program at the advanced level.

Applicants able to demonstrate the ability and willingness to supervise students at Honours, Postgraduate and Research degree levels will be favoured.

Commencement is negotiable but preferably the successful applicant will take up duties in February 2008.
