Austria: PhD Positions in Numerical Simulations in Technical Sciences, Graz University of Technology
There are several open positions for PhD students within the PhD excellence programme Numerical Simulations in Technical Sciences hosted at Graz University of Technology and at the Karl Franzens University Graz.
The Doctoral Program incorporates eleven interdisciplinary research projects headed by scientists from Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering. For more details see the project descriptions on the web page http://www.DK-NumSim.tugraz.at.
We are looking for interested, ambitious and skilled students holding a diploma or master degree in Applied Mathematics, Scientific Computing, Physics, Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering. Salary follows the rules of FWF - Austrian National Science Foundation (approximately net EUR 17.500,- / year).

2. a short description of your qualifications and experience (i.e. list of courses, Diploma or Master thesis)
3. a letter describing your scientific interests, possibly in connection with the offered PhD projects
4. names and email-addresses of at least two scientists willing to provide a reference
After screening all applications invitations will be sent out to selected applicants for interviews in Graz to be held in October 2007 (there will be some support for travel and housing expenses). All candidates will be asked to give a short presentation on a topic of their choice, usually on their Diploma or Master thesis. After the interviews, a selection panel of all project leaders will decide on the admission of candidates to the doctoral school.
