Belgium: PhD Studentship in Interdisciplinary Project on Good Governance in the EU, University of Antwerp

The department of Political Science, in collaboration with the faculty of Law, is looking for (m/f).
a pre-doctoral researcher / Ph.D. student for an interdisciplinary project on Good Governance in the European Union.

Job description:
The candidate will prepare a Ph.D. dissertation on the topic of good governance in the European Union and more in particular on the development of a good governance model as a contribution to the political and legal legitimacy of the EU multi-level political system. Starting point is the White Paper on European Governance, once presented as an answer to the legitimacy crisis of the EU, but heavily criticized by both legal and political science scholars who consider good governance as a remedy for the legitimacy problems of the EU. The project aims explicitly at developing an interdisciplinary theoretical model of European good governance and at testing the existing European model against the theoretical ideal type.

Profile:
* Master in Political Science or International Relations, preferably with additional diploma/experience/strong interest in (European) law or Master in Law, preferably with additional diploma/experience/strong interest in Political Science / European Politics
* Interested in interdisciplinary research, combining law and political science
* Strong motivation to write a Ph.D. dissertation
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Eligible for a Dehousse doctoral grant (see: Foreign PhD students)
* Strong academic record (minimally equivalent to Flemish distinction)

We offer:
* a full-time position as Ph.D. student (Dehousse mandate) for 4 years, with a monthly research grant of approximately 1500
* interdisciplinary supervision and incorporation in political science and law research groups

The Accounting Research Group covers management ac-counting and control, financial accounting and auditing.
