A postdoctoral fellow position is available in cell biology at the University of Waterloo. The candidate will participate in a project to obtain a mechanistic understanding of programmed cell death (apoptosis) /and anticancer agents at the MOLECULAR level using biochemical methods combined with our state-of-the-art ultrafast (femtosecond) laser spectroscopic techniques.
The latter is the most powerful method for real-time observations of biochemical reactions. Thus, we have unique techniques to discover the molecular pathways regulating DNA damage and cell death. The candidate must have a PhD in one or more of the fields of cell biology, medical biochemistry and medical biophysics, and is familiar with cell biology and molecular biology techniques. Experience with quantitative DNA damage and cell death assays (in vitro, cell-culture level, in vivo measurements) will be an asset. The candidate must have an excellent track record of original research, and the ability to work in a team environment.
The position is available immediately. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The position is initially for one year, with a possibility of renewal for a longer-term appointment.
Application
Interested candidates should submit a letter of application and an updated resume with names and email addresses of three references to: Prof. Qing-Bin Lu, Email: qblu[at]sciborg.uwaterloo.ca
