Germany: PhD Position in Algorithm Group, The Institute for Integrated Signal Processing Systems (ISS), RWTH Aachen

The Institute for Integrated Signal Processing Systems (ISS) of RWTH Aachen University has an immediate opening for a Research Assistant – PhD Candidate position in the algorithm group with a salary according to TV-L 13 (federal salary rate). Its duration is limited to five years.

At ISS we are interested in the analysis and synthesis of algorithms and architectures for complex future wireless communication systems. Our focus in the algorithm group is on information theoretic bounds on the one hand, and on implementation issues on the other hand, the latter also in collaboration with the institute’s tools and architecture groups. ISS has a leading role in the research cluster “Ultra high-speed Mobile Information and Communication (UMIC)”. The position includes cooperation with the cluster.

Your tasks:
* Research projects in close cooperation with industry
o signal processing for mobile communication systems
o information theory
* Teaching assistance (lecture exercises, labs, seminars)

Our requirements:
* Master’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, communications or signal processing with excellent results
* Sound knowledge of communication theory, digital signal processing and mathematics
* Excellent communication skills, must be a team player
* Good proficiency in oral and written German and English
