The research group “Biomedical Computer Vision” (BMCV, head: Prof. Dr. Karl Rohr) at the University of Heidelberg, BIOQUANT, IPMB, Dept. Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics, and the DKFZ Heidelberg, Dept. Theoretical Bioinformatics is developing algorithms and methods for computer-based analysis of biological and medical images.
Currently, the BMCV group and the Dept. of Radiology (Dr. Hendrik von Tengg-Kobligk) offer a joined PhD position in Medical Image Analysis, an interdisciplinary field between medical and computational sciences. The research topic is the development of automatic methods for segmentation and quantification of the morphology and pathomorphology of the human vascular system based on 3D tomographic images.
The successful candidate must have a Masters (Diploma) degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. We expect very good mathematical and programming skills (e.g., in C, C++, Java) as well as experience with software development systems in the area of Computer Vision.
