The Department of International Economics and Management and the Center for Corporate Governance invites applications for a vacant PhD scholarship within the research area of Corporate Governance.
The research project is financed by the Danish business community and the project will benefit from a continuous feedback from leading Danish companies and investors.
We are looking for highly-motivated individuals with the capacity to combine qualitative and quantitative research methods. We offer an inspiring, multidisciplinary research environment, a strong international network and good connections to the business community.
A 3 year scholarship provides a unique opportunity for professional and personal development which will be a valuable platform for a career in business as well as academics. Prior knowledge of economics, finance and company law will be an advantage, but functional expertise should also be combined with judgement and insight into business practices. For qualitative research projects (interviews) fluency in Danish may be important.
3 vacant stipends will be available for the project Corporate governance in practice which addresses the following research questions:
* The role of shareholder meetings: how do they work?
* Information, analysis and value creation: Does more information create value?
* Board member selection: Who nominates? The board? Investors? Headhunters?
* Opening the black box: What happens in the boardroom? And outside?
* Private equity funds and corporate governance: Do they differ?
* Code adoption and firm behaviour: Do companies comply or explain? Does it matter?
* Corporate Governance and performance: is there an effect on the bottom line?
