A position as postdoctoral fellow in the area of quantum chemistry is open in the group of Stephan Irle.
Period: Until March 2009 with possible extension upon mutual agreement.
Field: Nanocarbon and nanobio materials design employing quantum chemistry, electronic structure theory, QM/MD simulations and hybrid methods.
The successful candidate is expected to develop methods for quantum chemical molecular dynamics and/or conduct theoretical study of structures, functionality, electronic structure, thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties, and formation mechanisms of nanocarbon and synthetic biological (green) materials.
The theoretical studies will be carried out in close collaboration with the experimental groups of Profs. Hisanori Shinohara (nanocarbon), Shigehiro Yamaguchi (organic dyes), and Susumu Saito (nanobio, Noyori lab), all members of the IAR. Nanocarbon projects involve direct and close collaboration with the group of Prof. Keiji Morokuma in Kyoto.
Preference will be given to the candidates with strong background related to relevant research fields. Candidates who did not previously publish several papers in international, peer-reviewed journals will not receive a reply.
Salary: Approximately 3,900,000JPY per year.
Application Materials: following documents should be presented.
(1) Curriculum vitae with photograph
(2) Publication list (books, original papers, reviews described separately)
(3) Abstract of research results: 1 page
(4) Please arrange for two recommendation letters sent directly to
