The Astrophysics and Space Forum of Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey, invite applications for a postdoctoral position funded by the European Commission Marie Curie Transfer of Knowledge Project, ASTRONS (ASTROphysics of Neutron Stars).
Description
The successful candidate will perform research on topics related to theoretical and observational aspects of neutron stars. The successful applicant is expected to work with the faculty and research staff at Sabanci University (https://fens.sabanciuniv.edu/physics/eng/) and will be encouraged to develop his/her independent research projects on neutron stars. Collaborative research can involve Turkish researchers at other universities who are members of the Sabanci University Astrophysics and Space Forum. The candidate can also participate in joint research projects with the ASTRONS project partners, University of Amsterdam, University of Leicester, Max-Planck-Institut für Extraterrestische Physik, Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik, Danish National Space Center, Centre d'Etude Spatiale Reyonnaments, University of Crete and University of Warwick.
Benefits
The position benefits include monthly salary (3184 Euros before taxes), mobility & travel allowances, and a one time career exploratory allowance of 2000 Euros. Research related expenses may be paid through the ASTRONS project funds.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy or astrophysics. The position is available for two years starting January 2008.
