A postdoctoral opening is available immediately in the group of Professor Daniel Strongin in the Department of Chemistry at Temple University. The initial appointment will be for one year, but longer appointments are possible.
Specifically, the project involves the investigation of the surface reactivity of metal sulfide (e.g., pyrite) and oxide minerals (iron and manganese oxides) toward environmentally relevant molecules in conditions ranging from aqueous environments at room temperature to hydrothermal conditions (elevated temperature and pressure). The optimal candidate would have experience in infrared spectroscopy (i.e., attenuated total reflection), atomic force microscopy, and photoelectron spectroscopy (e.g., XPS).
