Applications and nominations are invited for a postdoctoral position available in the Complex Fluids Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. Research in the laboratory focuses on understanding and manipulating flow of complex fluids such as polymeric liquids, colloidal & red blood cell suspensions, micelle solutions, and emulsions in micro- and nanofluidic devices.
The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated and creative researcher with good communication skills and with expertise in some of the following relevant fields: micro- and nanofabrication methods, biophysics, complex fluids, and particle tracking. Candidates with a strong interest in the fundamentals of fluid mechanics, interfacial phenomena, biology, and interdisciplinary research are strongly encouraged to apply.
Application
Candidates should send a short cover letter, a CV, and arrange for three letters of recommendations to be sent to:
Prof. Paulo E. Arratia at the Department of Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics, 220 S. 33rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
Please send electronic applications to parratia@seas.upenn.edu. The target starting date is January 2008.
