Chemical Sciences Division
Oak Ridge National Laboratory
ID: ORNL07-47-CSD
Project Description:
The successful candidate will conduct general organic synthesis of novel molecular and self-assembling ion receptors in a multidisciplinary study of the principles of selectivity in separations. The central question pertains to whether selectivity can be achieved by a molecular design approach incorporating the principles of ion recognition and transport. To address this question, the Chemical Separations Group is proceeding along three lines dealing with issues of design strategy, correlation of separation efficacy with design predictions, and the potential of self-assembly. Additional information on the groups research can be obtained through the Web site: http://www.ornl.gov/sci/casd/csg/
Qualifications:
This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry, including a specialization in organic synthesis. Experience in aspects of supramolecular chemistry is preferred. The successful candidate should be safety conscious and have a good publication record and communication skills. Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
How to Apply:
Qualified applicants may apply online at https://www2.orau.gov/ORNL_POST/ All applicants will need to register before they can begin the online application. For complete instructions, on how to apply, please see the instructions at http://www.orau.gov/orise/edu/ornl/ornl-pdpm/application.htm
When applying for this position, please reference the position title and number (ORNL07-47-CSD). This appointment is offered through the ORNL Postdoctoral Research Associates Program and is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU). This appointment is open to all qualified U.S. and non-U.S. citizens without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, national origin, physical or mental disability, or status as a Vietnam-era veteran or disabled veteran.
