Postdoc - Mechanisms of Bipolar Disorders and Mood Stabilizing Drugs, University of British Columbia, Canada
Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions are available within the Department of Psychiatry, University of British Columbia at Vancouver, Canada, to study the mechanisms of bipolar disorder disease and mood stabilizing drug action. The main focus of work in these positions is either to study mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative damage in post mortem brain tissue and blood cells from bipolar disorder subjects, or to study the neuroprotective mechanism of mood stabilizing drugs against oxidative stress in primary cultured neuronal cells.
Techniques required are cell culture, real time PCR, immunoblotting analysis, immunohistochemistry, DNA cloning, cell transfection, lipid peroxidation analysis and protein oxidation analysis. Experience with confocal-microscopy will be a plus. Applicants must have received a PhD within the last five years.
