The Department of Engineering and Business Informatics at Graz University of Technology, Austria, invites applications for a research assistant position (3-year PhD studentship, or 2-year postdoctoral position).
The overall goal of the project is to develop and analyze combinatorial algorithms and heuristics for 2d nesting and production planning tasks subject to many constraints. The project partner is SAA Engineering GmbH, a company that specializes in the analysis of production and process systems. SAA develops modern automation concepts and economical solutions.
The candidate must have completed a university degree (diploma or master’s) in engineering mathematics, computer science, logistics, or related field. He or she will have basic knowledge and research interests in optimization, esp. combinatorial optimization. Basic (algorithmic) programming skills in C++ and/or C# are expected. Knowledge and experience in contraint programming is a plus.
Language Requirements: English, German advantageous.
Applicants must be EU citizens.
Graz University of Technology is an equal opportunity employer. Women and members of minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Please send PDF versions of your application letter, CV, including contact details of at least two references, and a short statement of your experience with optimization, software development, and project management, if any, to:
