The Ruhr Graduate School in Economics (RGS Econ) is a three-year PhD program initiated and founded by three universities of Germany’s Ruhr Area - the University of Bochum, the University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen - as well as by RWI Essen, one of Germany’s leading economic research institutes. The research environment at the RWI Essen allows the students to participate actively in policy consulting and to establish contact with policy decision makers.
About the Program:
The program provides postgraduate education in all relevant fields of modern economics, covering formal theoretical and empirical econometric analyses in labor and population economics, industrial economics, microeconomics, macro-economics, and public economics.
SCHOLARSHIPS:
The RGS Econ offers a number of PhD Scholarships (1250 Euro per month, approx. 1.850 USD) available for students who will commence their studies in 2008. The maximum duration of a scholarship is three years and it’s tax-free. The program is free of tuition fees.
Qualifications:
The RGS Econ is looking worldwide for applicants with an excellent academic record and a Master, Diploma or equivalent degree in economics or related fields. A strong background in quantitative methods is necessary for a successful application. The language of the program is English. Hence, a good command of English is a prerequisite. The RGS Econ wants to attract high-level students, who conduct research at an internationally competitive level and finish their dissertation thesis within three years.
