2 PhD/Postdoctoral Research Positions
Chair of Applied Mechanics, Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany
The Chair of Applied Mechanics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, invites application for 2 research positions working on the modelling and simulation of the electro/magneto-mechanical coupling effect in polymers. The successful applicants will be involved in characterizing the electro/magneto-mechanical properties and in developing numerical methods to simulate the deformation process of electro/magneto-active polymers under electric loading. Experience in experimental work, material modelling and numerical methods such as the finite element method is highly expected.
Qualification:
Candidates should have a university degree (for the PhD position) or PhD (for the postdoctoral position) in physics, materials science, civil, mechanical or manufacturing engineering with the ability to work independently, to plan and to organise multi-disciplinary tasks, have good knowledge of basic materials science and engineering, especially solid mechanics, good communication skills in English, both written and
spoken.
Terms of employment:
The terms of employment will be in accordance with the general rules for scientific staff of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. The salary
offered is according to German TVL E-13. The positions are to be filled initially for a fixed period of up to 2 years with possible extension.
Selection of candidates will start immediately and continue until all the positions are filled.
Interested candidates are invited to submit their application to:
