PhD Scholarship in Marine Biology, The Swire Institute of Marine Science, The University of Hong Kong
The Swire Hong Kong PhD Scholarship in Marine Biology: Applications are invited for The Swire Hong Kong PhD Scholarship in Marine Biology. This scholarship is open to outstanding higher degree candidates wishing to conduct research for a Ph.D. degree at The Swire Institute of Marine Science, The University of Hong Kong. Potential candidates should have a First Class or Upper Second Class Honours degree and have a proven interest in marine biology.
The candidate will undertake research on any aspect of marine biology in Hong Kong and South East Asia under the supervision of a member of staff at The Swire Institute of Marine Science (see http://www.hku.hk/swims/). The successful candidate will also take up occupancy in the SWIMS Residence.
The Scholarship shall be tenable for either 3 or 4 years, depending on the candidates’ qualifications. The successful candidate will receive a monthly stipend of HK$13,100, plus an associated research grant of HK$25,000 per annum.
Candidates wishing to apply should initially contact a member of staff at SWIMS to draft a research proposal for their study. This should be less than 6 pages of A4, inclusive of references and tables / figures. The proposal should highlight the area of study, the questions being addressed and the importance / relevance of their proposed research.
