PhD Position in Wavelet Methods, the Philipps-University of Marburg, Germany
Within the DFG Priority Programme SPP 1324 “Extraction of Quantifiable Information from Complex Systems” the Department of Mathematics at the Philipps-University of Marburg offers a PhD-Position (3/4 BAT IIa) for three years. The candidate will work in a research project on “Adaptive Wavelet Methods for Stochastic Partial Differential Equations”, which is jointly carried out with TU Darmstadt (Prof. Ritter) and TU Dresden (Prof. Schilling). Qualified candidates can also be hired on a postdoc level.
Topics:
* Development of wavelet schemes for the numerical treatment of stochastic partial differential equations
* Implementation and testing of the algorithms
General Qualifications:
* Diplom, Master or equivalent degree
* Applicants should have basic knowlegde in numerical analysis
* Programming skills (C++, Matlab)
* German language skills are helpful, but not necessary
