2 PhD scholarships are available for Jan 2011 intake in School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
The R&D topics will cover:
- Bioconversion of waste to energy and other valuable products
- Biological treatment of toxic compounds and nutrients
- Novel bioprocess design
- Microbial ecophysiology and community dynamics in environmental systems
- Environmental molecular techniques development
Self-motivated and team-oriented individuals interested in environmental bioprocess engineering and microbiology/biotechnology are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with experience in anaerobic bioprocess engineering (i.e., set up, operation, and monitoring of bioreactors) and in molecular/microbiological techniques will be given preference. A Master’s degree in environmental engineering, microbiology or a closely related field is a plus, but the position is open to outstanding Bachelor’s degree holders too.
A 4-year scholarship will be given through the School to the qualified candidate. The scholarship covers all tuition fees and stipend of S$2,000-2,500/month. The monthly living cost on campus is about S$800-900. Special support for students to attend oversea conferences is also available.
Applicants with qualified academic records and good TOFEL (or IELTS) and GRE (or GATE) scores will be considered immediately.
International applicants MUST (be able to) submit the test scores (taken within the past 2 yrs) by the end of Sep 2010 at latest for Jan 2011 intake.
TOEFL can be waived for the applicants whose undergraduate education medium is English - an official proof required.
Local students (from NTU or NUS) do not need TOEFL or GRE score.
